Christina currently works in the ICU at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. In addition to patient care she has been actively involved in several PI/QI projects including a recent effort to bring a progressive mobility protocol to the ICU in order to reduce both length of stay and the incidence of ICU delirium. While working at Fort Belvoir she has received several Ace Awards for Excellence in patient care. Throughout her nursing career she has worked to bring evidence to the bedside to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. Another example of this was a project exploring nursing attitudes and barriers to oral care in intubated patients with follow-up education and interventions that helped reduce the incidence of VAPs in a Trauma ICU. Christina is a second career nurse and is able to draw on her background in oceanography when applying research principles to nursing. She graduated at the top of her class with a BSN from Georgetown University, Sum Cum Laude, and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International. She is also a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and holds a CCRN certification from them. Christina is a student member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is currently pursuing a DNP at George Mason University where she plans to investigate non-medical factors affecting care delivery and patient concordance in underserved, high utilizers of health care. She will graduate in 2016 and plans work both clinically seeing patients and also as a community leader promoting change in the healthcare system. While at GMU she has served on the executive board of the Doctoral Student Organization for three years and has worked to bring doctoral students and faculty together to form partnerships in research and evidence based practice. When she isn’t working or studying, Christina likes to spend time outside with her daughter blowing bubbles and riding bikes.

As a family nurse practitioner, Stephanie Glasser sees patients of all ages at Capitol Square Healthcare, whether it’s for physicals and preventative care or acute problems and chronic diseases.
From the beginning, Stephanie’s patients will have a nurse who listens and is nonjudgmental. The best part of her job is helping and seeing patients reach their health goals, she says.
While she’s focused on helping patients have successful health outcomes, she cares about her patients on a personal level too. “I feel it is a privilege to provide healthcare for patients,” she says. “We are not defined by our medical conditions and challenges. We cannot be reduced to these things.”
And as a seasoned professional in nursing, Stephanie is helping future generations of medical experts too, helping oversee educational programs, as well as providing supervision and expertise for nurse practitioner students at VCU.
Stephanie is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
