Maintenance of Certification
We are transitioning to a Continuing Education (CE) tracking program called CE App. This program allows you to self-report the credits you’ve earned to renew your CCMS. Many credits automatically populate after you’ve completed the requirements and the evaluation. The Guide to MOC provides clarity on which credits require manual upload to your CE App account.
Please reach out to Katie at kbalaram@culinarymedicine.org with questions. Although we’ve made every effort to ensure the automatic credits you’ve earned in the past are reflected in your CE App account, sometimes they do not end up there. Please reach out to Katie if this occurs.
Steps to Renew your CCMS Certification:
Step 1: Review the Guide to MOC/CE App Instructions here: https://culinarymedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Guide.MOC-CEApp.pdf
This document provides clarity on what specific activities qualify for maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits and includes instructions on using CEApp. This provides a step-by-step guide to accessing, submitting, and tracking your MOC credits.
Step 2: Add your MOC credits to the CE App
This is accessed via the “My Account” tab and the dropdown item “Continuing Education Credit Dashboard” on the CulinaryMedicine.org website.
Step 3: Email Katie at kbalaram@culinarymedicine.org when you’ve reached 50 credits
After the credits are reviewed and verified you will receive a link for payment.
Step 4: Submit payment of $250
You will then receive an updated certificate showing renewal of your Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist designation for 5 more years.
Step 5 (or any time): Update/Create your profile to network on https://culinarymedicine.org/directory/
When you are ready to add your information to the directory, please email Katie at kbalaram@culinarymedicine.org for the form.
Thank you for all the hard work you do to further the field of culinary medicine and optimize health!
How Can I Gain MOC Credits?
1. Get active! Join an ACCM committee (e.g. Certification, Curriculum, Standards, Dietetics, Graduate Medical Education, or Clinical Practice). If you’re interested in joining any of these committees, email Katie and she will put you in touch with the committee chair.
2. Register and attend an ACCM Roundtable (make sure you are receiving the ACCM newsletter, which provides notices of when these terrific events occur. Go to https://culinarymedicine.org/ and click on “sign up for ACCM Newsletter” on the dropdown under the top bar that states “My Account”).
3. HmF Conferences – In-person or virtual. Register at https://culinarymedicine.org/ – click on “Conference” or go directly https://culinarymedicine.org/conference/.
Recordings of past HmF Conferences (2024 and 2025) – around 14 credits each – are now available for you to view and earn credits for free. Email Katie at kbalaram@culinarymedicine.org for the code.
4. Self-study: Sign up for continuing education credits from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN), (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics, Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Be sure to upload the certificate and record your hours in the CE App.
5. Register for a CME Class at https://culinarymedicine.org/continuing-medical-education-culinary-medicine/culinary-medicine-cme-classes/
Hands-on classes (whether in-person or via Zoom) do NOT have a coupon code and are priced as advertised. All self-directed didactic modules (PPT/quiz only) are free to CCMS graduates and can be reached through your CCMS course dashboard.
6. Credit may be granted for Culinary Medicine-related academic peer-reviewed journal publications, presentations, or panels. Contact Katie with the details of your journal article, presentation, or panel participation for consideration.
7. Teaching academic or community level culinary medicine classes (HmF or other curriculum – see MoC Guide for details on submission/approval).
