About
Dr. Marianne Cunanan-Bush is a board-certified physician in Internal and Lifestyle Medicine, a certified Culinary Medicine Specialist, and author of Timplado: Filipino Meets Mediterranean in Every Bite — Not Just Recipes but a Way of Life. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at Mercy Hospital, SUNY Buffalo, where she also served as Chief Resident in her third year.
With 16 years of hospitalist experience, Dr. Cunanan-Bush has served in multiple leadership roles, including Academic Hospitalist at the Johns Hopkins/Sinai Internal Medicine Residency Program, Assistant Medical Director, and later Medical Director of the Inpatient team at UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center. She currently works with Humana in Utilization Management and remains active in volunteer work that promotes health and wellness.
Her passion for culinary medicine grew out of her own personal journey of sustainable weight loss, achieved by applying the same principles of lifestyle and culinary medicine she now teaches. She reimagines Filipino cuisine through the lens of the Mediterranean diet, showing that health and cultural heritage can thrive together on the same plate.
She also teaches the online course Unlocking a Healthier Lifestyle: Empowering Filipinos for Optimal Wellbeing on PatientWorld.net, blending science, culture, and flavor to make healthy living both practical and delicious.
