Dr. Melanie McMinn received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Chemistry from Duke University in 2002. She attended medical school at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She then moved her family to Charlotte, and completed her internal medicine residency at Carolinas Medical Center in 2011. Dr. McMinn was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) in April, 2018.
Dr. McMinn is an internist at Proactive Health in Charlotte, NC. This practice is an innovative, team-based primary care model. With the assistance of technology, the Proactive Health team empowers patients to take control of their own health, and partners with them to inspire healthy living. She is also a Certified Hypertension Clinician by the American Society for Hypertension. Dr. McMinn is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Outside of her time at Proactive Health, Dr. McMinn provides healthcare for the homeless population of Charlotte at the Urban Ministries Center. She also serves as a Community Speaker as a member of the Task Force to End Chronic Homelessness in Mecklenburg County. She was the 2014 recipient of The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Young Professional Nonprofit Leader Award, and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Charlotte. Because of her extensive civic engagement, she was also named to the 2016 class of Charlotte Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40.
