Board Certified Family Medicine Physician.
As my medical career unfolded, I found myself needing more tools to help patients improve their health, specifically their diet. The certification in Culinary Medicine, along with growing up with my mother’s awesome cooking, has given me a better way to help patients learn that healthy eating is tasty, economical and possible.

I currently work at Doctors on Duty in Seaside, California. While this is an urgent care clinic we do also serve as a primary care provider for many of our patients. Over the last several years I have been struck by how many patients would benefit from an improved diet and exercise plan. I find it much more rewarding to help a patient help themselves than to prescribe a drug. Obviously, diet and exercise alone are not always the answer, but they are a good place to start. I also enjoy hiking, playing tennis, working with wood and making Temari balls.

Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.
As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn’t until she, too, experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.
Dr. Haver is married to her husband, Christopher Haver, since 1996. They are raising their two daughters, Katherine and Madeline, the loves of their lives.

While growing up in a rural Oklahoma community, Dr. Morris considers himself fortunate to have recognized his enthusiasm for science at a young age while working in his father’s veterinary clinic. It was not until he shadowed his community Family Physician however, that he realized his excitement for practicing medicine as a “human” doctor.
During this early experience, he became increasingly interested in not only how to treat infections or common illnesses, but in why it was that these illnesses occurred in the first place.
Following his completion of Medical School at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, he attended University of Iowa’s Family Medicine Residency where he received an additional one year’s training in Psychiatry.
It was through a deepening desire the help those suffering with excess weight gain that Dr. Morris began his pursuit to obtain further training in Weight Loss Medicine and Culinary Medicine. As the trunk of a tree has many branches, so too does weight gain lead to many common diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol, joint pain, and even some forms of cancer to name a few.
Upon completing an Obesity Medicine Board Certification and Culinary Medicine Certification, along with his continued primary care experience, Dr. Morris is excited to have an opportunity to work with patients to now reverse and prevent these common diseases.
It is with an ever growing enthusiasm that Dr. Morris has opened Rudimentary Health, a clinical practice complete with its very own Culinary Medicine Teaching Kitchen, dedicated solely to the principles for effective and sustainable weight loss.
