Dr. Sarita Golikeri is a board certified family and geriatric medicine physician practicing at TPMG Colonial Family Medicine in Williamsburg, VA. Dr. Golikeri is also the Medical Director at Brookdale Senior Living Community in Williamsburg and regularly collaborates with TPMG Nutrition and Diabetes educators to provide cooking classes and demonstrations to ensure better health in the kitchen.
Dr. Golikeri earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Chicago and her medical degree at St. George’s University in Grenada. After medical school, Dr. Golikeri returned to her home state of New Jersey to complete her family medicine residency at Somerset Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.
The primary focus of Dr. Golikeri’s clinical practice is to help patients live healthy lifestyles through weight management and nutrition. In complement to this focus, she takes a special interest in geriatric medicine and preventive care in the young and the young at heart, as well as the treatment of chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, dementia, high cholesterol, asthma and obesity. Dr. Golikeri’s motto is, “It is better to prevent trouble than to treat it.”
Dr. Golikeri is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and is most recently certified in Culinary Medicine through the Tulane School of Medicine Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine. As a culinary medicine specialist, Dr. Golikeri consults with patients on the management and prevention of conditions like diabetes and high cholesterol through diet and nutrition. She also sees patients who are struggling to lose weight and those who are experiencing difficulty maintaining a healthy weight.
